Kelly Berg

The Full Story

I am Kelly Berg, a 17-year-old Broughton IB Student, and aspiring fashion designer. I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina speaking both English and Swedish fluently. I attended Stough Elementary and then went on to attend Wake Young Women's Leadership Academy.

As a freshman and sophomore, I sewed clothing for children in Haiti as well as collected money to fund clothing for orphaned children in Haiti. I was recognized by my apparel teacher as "Caps on a Roll" for my outstanding fashion accomplishments. I have also been allowed the opportunity to meet William Ivey Long at his New York studio as well as keep in contact with him throughout my design journey. I am a self-taught fashion designer, pattern maker, and seamstress. I learned to drape on my own in the first few years of high school and was able to help out in my apparel classes. In March 2018 I debuted some of my designs in a fashion show.

I hope to continue my fashion career at North Carolina State University Wilson College of Textiles.
